A photoshoot with local model Morgan in the studio gave me the chance to try out the new painted walls in royal blue and slate grey. Using a wall rather than a Colorama paper background gives more opportunity to play with shadows whilst keeping an even effect on the flat surface instead of the lumps and creases you can get with a paper roll.
A few images from an earlier photoshoot with Midlands based Italian model Valentina. We kept the lighting simple and moody, using either grey or white backdrops and letting the light fall off to control the brightness of the background, which worked well with the muted colours of the outfits.
A black and white themed photoshoot in the studio with Remi – Instagram: _remileigh0.
We used a combination of outfits against black and white backgrounds to give a classic contrast look with simple lighting. Remi used her experience in dance to create delicate and graceful poses.
I had the chance to be involved in a Leicester studio photoshoot recently using ultraviolet light and paint only. This was a new technique for me as a photographer, and took a bit of trial and error to get the correct camera settings and lighting position. The combination of UV light and specialised paint on the model gives a very unique look. The colours certainly pop against the dark shadows. Very different results to my normal style of photography.
I had the pleasure of shooting with Lady-Viper from Purpleport recently. We were looking for a mix of a gothic look with slow-motion for an eerie / haunting style. Lady-Viper brought a wonderful selection of outfits and accessories, and we had fun experimenting with camera settings and motion to get the look we were after. All images in-camera, with Lightroom and Photoshop for cropping and colour grading.
I think one of the best subjects for a photoshoot is a person with lots of dimensions to their character. Luke has this in abundance, with tattoos, a very well looked after beard which I am sure has been grown with great pride, and penetrating eyes to focus in on. Nose ring and shiny necklace add to the richness of the look.
Luke was almost picked off the street to model for a small group of photographers in the Leicester studio, and we used a dark background with minimal light to create a moody portrait.
I was fortunate to spend some time in the Leicester studio with local model Charlee recently, trying out some different lighting setups. Charlee has a great look and is a pleasure to work with.
All three images were shot on a white background, but controlling the amount of light falling on the background to keep the background as light or dark as required. The addition of coloured gels on a light helped create a different look to the same setup.
These two images are from a recent family photoshoot we did on the best day of the year so far. We started off with an Environmental shoot in a picturesque local park, and then moved into the studio for more formal shots. These were two quick images taken inbetween and at the end of the shoot. I try to use as much of the time in the studio as I can to capture images, even when waiting for other family members to change outfits.
