Owners of The Place 2B Ashley Blake & Jessica Hayes were great hosts and looked after me well. The event seemed to be attended by most of the BBC who were really enthusiatic about having their photos taken, which makes my life a lot easier. It was an amazing night, and was finished off fantastically listening to the night’s entertainment ‘Brothers of Soul’.
On Friday 6th June I visited The Old Thatch Tavern in Stratford-Upon-Avon to do an editorial shoot for Totally magazine. At over 500 years old this pub must have some stories to tell. The pub is small and has a great atmosphere. Worth a visit to rest your feet after a day wandering around Stratford.
Sunday 1st June 2008 saw me at the Rose Garden Summer Party at The New Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield for Totally magazine. The Summer Party was in aid of the Norman Laud Association and was well attended even with the threat of rain. In the end the weather was kind to us and everyone had a great time. Even Elvis attended.
Also on Saturday 31st May 2008 I visited Koko’s bar and nightclub taking photographs for a Totally magazine article for the venue. Even at the relatively early time of 9:00pm, the place was already starting to get busy. With the venue taking up 3 floors plus a terrace, its a great place for a drink, meal or just to chill out with lots of interesting people and lots of loud music.
I was told that Danny Dyer of the film ‘Football Factory’ was in the venue the night before filming one of the doormen for a documentary. I shall keep an eye out for that on TV.
Friday 23rd May 2008 took me to the opening of the Erasmus Darwin House Flower Festival in Lichfield for Totally magazine. Erasmus Darwin was the Grandfather of Charles Darwin but notable in his own right, becoming a forward thinking and very successful scientist, geologist, biologist and meteorologist.
Erasmus Darwin House received funding for restoration from the National Heritage and Regional Development Fund, but still needs considerable money to keep open. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
The Green Farm End in Willington, Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire hosted The Crystal Ball in aid of The Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust on Saturday May 17th. We were in attendance shooting editorial photographs for Totally magazine. It was a fantastic event for an extremely worthy cause. With 550 guests the Marquee had to be spacious – and it was. And star of the night was Mr Quentin Willson, motoring expert and TV personality.
