Another successful model shoot last Saturday at Superfly in Leicester. I used the opportunity to try out the new Bowens Beauty Dish in anger, and it is a real beauty. Very soft light but with harder shadows than you would get from a softbox.
The models were great, and the weather was kind enough to us to allow me to shoot outside on the fire escape with a powerful Bowens flash to overpower the sun and create very moody fashion images.
I spent last Saturday over at the Superfly nightclub in Leicester to shoot a few models for portfolios. As I have said in previous posts Superfly is a great 3 story building full of cool looking backdrops for fashion shoots. But the building was cold..very cold. No doubt it costs a fortune to heat in the winter so we had to keep moving around to keep warm. The models suffered more than I did, but we got some great images nevertheless.
I brought my heavy duty Bowens lighting with me but in the end only used my very portable Nikon SB-800 flash and lite EZYBox to soften the light. Quick and easy to setup and easy on the back going up and down the stairs.
Looking forward to the next shoot.
I attended my second group model shoot at Leicester’s Superfly venue last weekend. It is all extremely well organised by gorgeous Nicole who also models. The 4 hour shoot is attended by up to 10 photographers and 15 male and female models and we all have the run of the three story nightclub for the Saturday afternoon. The 4 hours soon fly by as we all concentrate on creating the fashion images we have in our heads using the nightclub interior as a backdrop.
By the end of the shoot we all have fantastic images we can add to our portfolio to help us along in our photography and modelling careers. Thanks to all and look forward to meeting you again.
We offer a 2 hour urban portrait shoot in Leicester, ideal for those looking for a portfolio of images to go into a portrait presentation album or if you are interested in getting some ‘glossy mag’ type images for home or facebook. Leicester has some great side street locations out of the way from the shopping crowd which work great as urban backdrops to a portrait shoot. You will get a set of images that will make you feel great about yourself and you will want to show off to your friends.

One of the model portfolio sites I use to source models for shoots is www.purestorm.com , a great site to find models of varying experience in my local area. A group shoot was organised recently at the Leicester nightclub Superfly for a limited number of models and photographers to get together for the afternoon to try out a few ideas. It was a great opportunity to work with several models in one fantastic venue, building up portfolios for both models and photographers. With the nightclub spread over several floors there was lots of different photo locations to choose from. Below is a small selection from the afternoon.
