Now that Christmas, the New Year AND the SWPP Convention have passed for another year, its time to get shooting again. Its still too cold to spend any length of time outside, especially with a camera, so I am playing around with new styles and techniques for portraits to use over the coming year. My daughter Megan was the designated model during a recent wet Saturday afternoon as I experimented with different lighting setups in my living room, replicating the space I would normally have to work with in clients homes. The image below was lit with a single studio flash attached to a softbox and used a dark backdrop. This type of lighting really helps to soften the skin. This image would look great in a large dark wood frame hanging on a living room wall.
I was searching google images because I wanted to try to animate something at this new animation site I just joined today and I came across this picture of Megan and thought I’d try it. It’s a really beautiful shot – the lighting is perfect in your picture. My animation is nothing like – especially since it’s my first one. But I just thought I’d let you know and pass you the link as well (the strokes are kinda choppy, but it’s my first time using this site and I haven’t mastered it yet) http://www.ratemyanimations.com/animation/people/5106.html.
